London and Soffits and Stickers, Oh My!

Friday, January 14, 2011 1
I have seen a lot of decal stickers used as decorations in living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc., I thought most of them were gaudy or just plain tacky, but I found these great London skyline decals that gift perfectly on a space that I was dying to utilize. In my kitchen/entryway there are a few soffits, I decided to place the stickers above a doorway, a closet and the soffit. I think it is a nice little detail that adds mild flair to the space.

Bringing Color to My Favorite Room!

Thursday, January 6, 2011 3

Posting this one from my phone! I added some color to my bathroom! I found these prints online and printed them on photo paper off my own printer. I put them in $5 IKEA frames and used screws to hang them.

I also switched out the standard door handles on my over-the-toilet space saver for clear blue handles $8 each from Anthropologie!

Ma and Pa make a Spa!

Sunday, January 2, 2011 2
My parents are redoing the bathroom off of their bedroom, now usually I would call this a master bathroom; however, their bathroom is incredibly tiny, no more than 8x10 ft. So we/they were working with quite a small area to play with. They completely gutted this entire space, put in new flooring, paint, built-in cabinets, hardware and decor. This is update #1 from the Homeland. ATTENTION: From now on I will refer to my parent's house as the HOMELAND!!!

New Sink
The sink is a bowl, with a stainless steel faucet. The streamline finish on the top goes well with the classically ornate detail on the sink base.
Sink Base
The sink base has ageless and elegant design with a granite top. The contrast with the modern sink/faucet adds some flare to the bathroom.

My Mother is most excited for her new built in cabinet. This is actually where the old toilet lived, now this will become a hiding spot for the laundry basket along with linens, complete with closing doors.
Here is a terrible shot I took on my phone of the new lighting fixtures on the ceiling and over the vanity. Stainless steel matches the faucet directly below.

I will make sure to keep you all updated on the headway made on their bathroom as they go. I cannot wait to see how they finish it off. They asked me to help with the decoration. As soon as I go back to LA, I will start to prepare their decor. I am thinking about adding a few "His and Hers" touches to the bathroom. Although it is not a double sinked bathroom, I think that finding subtle ways to hang little "His and Hers" plaques above the sink and around the cabinet would add to the ma and pa cottage feel.
